Feeling the Rotation

Check out the attitude angle on Senna's Lotus mid corner.

There must have been a small rotation of the chassis on the tyre contact patches, that has taken place in corner entry.

The racing driver’s feeling of the rotation can be very precise as the car grips up, even though it may happen quickly.  The driver may only feel a “blip” of rotation.  In corner entry for example, it can only be felt while the steering wheel is in motion, building up the slip angles in the tyres.

Need to Know: Vehicle Dynamics for Drivers

In the past, all the race car engineering training has been too complicated, and really only concentrates on the car. The role of the driver is ignored. Now with this course, it's different. It's all about the driver's relationship with the car.

Ultimate car control.  This must be the holy grail of motor racing and the preserve of the great drivers.

Yet the basic skill and feeling is attainable by regular grassroots racers as well.  So, the feeling and response, the mechanism we use to control the race car, must be quite simple, while also allowing for the sensitivity of the great drivers.

It’s evident, irrespective of your skill level, sensing and responding to the feedback the car is giving you is important, if not the most important aspect of driving a race car.

Knowing this is important is one thing, but understanding where the feeling comes from is quite another.

Over the history of racing, drivers have not been able to say what it is they’re feeling.  It’s been assumed, the nature of grip at the tyres is so complex that nobody really knows what’s happening.

Our new course, “A Physical Understanding of Race Car Handling”, is different.  We can show you exactly what is happening at the tyres, and what the racing driver is feeling.

“Vehicle Dynamics”, as presented in most articles and books on handling, isn’t that helpful.  It's usually a discussion about grip, vertical load and weight transfer.  Drivers can’t feel the vertical load on the tyre, or the weight transfer.

In the course, we target just what you need to know to unlock the mystery behind the racing driver’s car control skills.

  • No matter what your skill level or experience in racing, this is stuff you can use.
  • The knowledge translates into a better understanding of what your car is doing so you can give better feedback and get a better idea of set-up changes you need.
  • Self paced learning.  All on-line. 12 modules, mostly written with diagrams.  Some video.  Yours to keep and come back to as often as you like.
  • Ask questions and get answers from me, right in the module your studying.  I'll respond generally within 24 hours.
  • 100% money back guarantee.  If you're not completely satisfied, let me know within 10 days of purchase, and I will refund your money.
